  • Blackgum is native to a variety of environments across Eastern North America.

    It is tolerant of a range of soil and moisture conditions, but does best in moist, acidic soils. It prefers full sun. This tree makes a good street tree or shade tree.

  • Aka black tupelo or sourgum

    This tree produces beautiful red foliage in the fall. It produces fruit that supports a variety of wildlife, but is a dioecious tree, so male and female flowers are required to fruit. Its flowers are attractive to bees and its nectar produces tupelo honey.
